Which iPhone should I buy for use as a PDA?
I’m an AT&T customer, own a Palm Centro and an iMac desktop computer. I like the Palm, but the controls are small and not all my data syncs up through the pitiful Palm Desktop software. I am considering the iPhone because of the larger on-screen buttons, better sync features and the ability to play music, but I’ll use it mostly to–duh–make telephone calls, keep appointment and keep track of customer contact information. I don’t plan to spend all day on FaceBook or Twitter, probably won’t download any movies from iTunes or use the GPS.
Sooooo, what should I buy? 8GB, 16GB or 32GB? Refurbished? Any special apps I should consider when using the iPhone as a PDA? Thanks.
Just so you know, they force you now to buy a data plan with a smartphone (Win Mobile, iPhone, or Blackberry).
Personally, I’d buy an unlocked phone from a third party and transfer the sim card. I wouldn’t get an iphone myself … who wants to enter data on a touchscreen?
I use a Windows Mobile phone, the PDA aspect is equally as important to me as being a good phone. I’d look at an unlocked Samsung Jack if you don’t need a touchscreen, great PDA, great phone.

What is the best color-screen-buttons-on-the-bottom handheld GPS for geocaching?
I am fairly new to geocaching, but I have gone on a few hunts with my friend. She has an eTrex Legend and I absolutely HATE the button at the top on the LEFT hand side. I am a right-hander and you cannot use it without blocking the screen. I also would like to have a color screen with topo map capabilities. Can anyone please help? I have been looking through website after website to find an affordable (around $100) GPS with everything that my friends eTrex doesn’t have!! Any side by side comparison websites or general information and user reviews would be very helpful. I have had to sift through every website just to find what I am looking for and it gets very frustrating!! Thanks guys!!
I don’t believe that there is anything in your price range that fills the bill. My “standard geocaching GPS suggestion” is the Garmin 60 CSx. The buttons are on the bottom, and topo maps can be added. Also, the new DeLorme PN-40 has the capability of displaying topo quad charts with your caches overlayed on them. Both of these units will cost at least $300 or more with the maps you need. You may be able to pick up a used unit for less. Unfortunately, I can’t think of anyway to fill all your needs for “around $100.”
