All GPS should come with maps. but they are not always up to date. When I bought my Garmin 270 in 2007, they already had maps for 2008 for purchase.

If a GPS unit has Nulink or similar features that offer weather, gas prices and some web surfing. Where does that service some from? Is it through your phone service through the bluetooth link up. So would you need a smart phone?

I have a regular newelectronx gps and it has all the features and i dont pay a dime for it. it has maintenance, currency, fuel economy, fuel consumption, sun rise / sunset, trip monitor, country information, and some other cool stuff. not sure exactly how it works though, but its all free.

I’m confused which phone i should purchase. iPhone or Nokia N96.
I would like to know weather iPhone 3g’s GPS works in India or not??
I mean can we get our location on the screen in google maps???
Also is this facility really working for N96 too in India??

The iPhone 3G have calling and data capabilities while traveling in India. ATT now has a Global Navigator feature with turn by turn w/voice you may want to check into as well, GPS is ran off of government based(Department of Defense) satellites and you must be in range of at least three in order to have proper placement. Can I program Longitude/Latitude coords in a GPS?

I am planning on buying a cheap GPS (probably a Garmin Etrex H), but I would like to be able to store longitude and latitude coordinates (from Google Maps) while I’m at home.

The eTrex H can store 500 waypoints. It has memory, but the amount of memory is irrelevant because you can only store waypoints, tracks, and routes. Those are limited by specific quantities, not the amount of memory available. In more capable units, the amount of memory matters because you can store maps in the memory and the amount of map area you can store varies depending on the detail of the map in the area you are storing. It makes more sense to say you can store 24MB of maps than to say you can store 35,000 roads and 93,000 points of interest (those are made-up numbers).

As for saving coordinates from Google Earth, do note that Google Earth might be using a different coordinate format than the eTrex. Either one can be changed, but I think the default for Google Earth is degrees minutes seconds while the eTrex uses decimal minutes. Make sure to set the GPS receiver and Google Earth to use the same coordinate format, otherwise you won’t be able to enter the coords on the GPS receiver or you will enter the coords wrong.

These suppliers have GPS maps for the Philippines or not.

Does anyone have experience with using GPS in the Philippines? I am thinking of buying a GPS here in Europe. I then purchased the software to be used in the Philippines, some experience with that.
