I bought a GPS that was stolen ?!?!?!?!?

OK, I bought a brand new still in package. GARMIN GPS at a flea market for $ 50 when I saw how I handled immediately. Buy it, and feel like I found a good deal. But after a few people that they pointed out the probability of it being stolen are quite high. I am concerned, I havent opened it was still considering. The back and forth. But it is the market so that it is almost impossible. It has a box and everyone, so if it is stolen, it will receive from the store or something,. cuz they wouldnt have if it was stolen from the car on the road. Ive thought about just going to the police and say Hello, this is a steal,. (I dont know if I can do, and if it is stolen, they will. I think that is a suspect or something?). But I do not want to leave. 50 bucks, one of the other. ? How do I get in trouble if pulled over and checked it good for some reason, if it is stolen?
